Module 2--February 1 and 2, 2012
Describe uncharacteristic or undesirable fire behavior using rate of spread, flame length/vegetation/fuel structure
- Dan Mindar – Instructor
Students will need the following materials for the 40 Fuel Model Instruction. I will go over how to obtain these materials in the lecture portion of the instruction; but students would be advised to down-load these materials prior to the workshop.
All the materials are available from the FRAMES web site on the Fuels page.
http://www.frames.gov/portal/server.pt/community/fuels/218
Students will need to down-load the following items.
• RMRS-GTR-153: Standard Fire Behavior Fuel Models: A Comprehensive
Set for Use with Rothermel's Surface Fire Spread Model
(Note; if students Have this publication in hard copy that is preferred)
• Combined Fuel Model Spreadsheet and Help File
(Note; these files can be down-loaded separately, but be sure to get the chm file version for the Help File)
(Note; students will need Microsoft Excel on their computers for the spreadsheet to work)
- Faith Ann Heinsch – Instructor
Students will need to download and install both FireFamilyPlus and BehavePlus prior to the BehavePlus section of the webinar. Do not install these programs in the C:/Program Files directory.
The links for downloading the programs are as follows:
BehavePlus version 5.0.5 (Build 307): http://www.firemodels.org/downloads/behaveplus/5.0/bp_307.exe
*Note: If you work for DOI, you may have problems installing version 5.0.5 of BehavePlus. Please download version 5.0.3 instead (http://www.firemodels.org/downloads/behaveplus/5.0/bp_301.exe).
FireFamilyPlus version 4.0.2: http://www.firemodels.org/downloads/firefamilyplus/4.0/ffp4setup.msi
