Location and Logistics This year’s conference will be in Sandestin, Florida, located between Pensacola and Panama City. Our conference center provides walking access to both the beach and the Intercoastal Waterway. Complimentary sea kayaks and other recreational facilities are available. This location also puts us in close proximity to some of the largest remaining tracts of longleaf in the area. Field tours will include nearby Eglin Air Force Base’s longleaf stands and a visit to the 48,000 acre Nokuse Plantation (www.nokuse.org), future site of the E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center. The following logistical information should help in planning your trip: Registration Options - Meeting attendees have several registration options:
- register for the Longleaf Alliance meeting only (evening of Oct. 28 through noon Oct. 31),
- register for the Forest Guild meeting only (evening of Oct. 29 through evening of Nov. 1),
- register for both meetings (evening of Oct. 28 through evening of Nov. 1), or
- register for one or more individual days.
Both meetings will overlap with a shared program all day Oct. 30 and the morning of Oct. 31. Click here to register and choose the option that best suits you. Lodging - There is a plethora of lodging options available at the resort. We have special reduced rates available on hotel rooms, condominiums, and suites located on the beach, the bay, or in the village, depending on your preference. All accommodations include on-property tram service to the conference; four hours of bicycle usage daily; fitness center usage; one hour per day of tennis court time (based on availability); one hour per day usage on a canoe, kayak, or boogie board. View reduced rates and available accommodations here.
Meals- Your conference reservation includes several meals. In order to keep costs low, there are also several meals that are not included in the reservation fee. For those meals, conference attendees have option of sampling any one of a multitude of restaurants on the premises (see http://www.sandestin.com/diningshoppingentertainment/dining/tabid/107/Default.aspx for restaurant options). Conference attendees may also take advantage of the fact that all onsite accommodations feature either kitchenettes or full kitchens.
